Overall experience spans 8+ years with what I consider a gradual decline or diminishment of culture and community-forward values as company growth and drive to acquisitions often resulted more in outside promotions into upper leadership roles instead of promoting from within. The recent acquisition by Broadcom is a complete upset to that, but isn't necessarily bad - as the legacy leadership/seniority group was becoming overly cliquish and could probably benefit from some level of reset.

Overall, my experience at VMware was fantastic. Like any job a manager can make or break your feeling towards a company. In my case, I had a extraordinary manager then at another point I had a extremely micromanaging manager. The pay was great and worklife balance was superb.
