IBM
Back to ReviewsFormer Employee I was many years at IBM and my overall experience was lousy and often times toxic. Among 4 or so different roles over 12 years in sales, internal politics took precedent over customer sat almost every time.
As maybe one of the most matrixed companies in the world, the layers and layers of staff were quite unnecessary too, and the number of reps who could earn commission on any deal was borderline ridiculous.
Leadership over my 12 year tenure was once or twice good but mostly bad, with insecure and backstabbing directors getting promoted if they could play the game. "Culture" was non existent and very few people I met there could have fun. The legacy Big Blue stodginess was all too apparent and it wasn't until I worked in a organizationally flat company that I realized how preposterous it was. There is good reason why IBM was never in the conversation of "best places to work". Browse Other Reviews
