Confluent has a solid product, recognizable in the market but majority of companies are still not 100% sure of the ideal use cases and sometimes confuse technologies that are not even a true competitor as one. Compensation wise, it pays above average (I know because interviewed for many and got multiple offers) but they are about to change the compensation plans (2024). So we will need to wait and see how the changes impact AEs total comp.

Confluent is a game changing solution. It is however a platform play- it’s a foundational change in the way technology is viewed and used in the pipeline so it typically encompasses a long sales cycle. Kafka is its own product and its own biggest competitor.

My overall experience was pretty terrible from a mental health perspective. There is an old boys club at Confluent and if you’re new/not in the club don’t expect to get anything done or any support.
