My overall experience was pretty terrible from a mental health perspective. There is an old boys club at Confluent and if you’re new/not in the club don’t expect to get anything done or any support. People are extremely rude at Confluent. There’s an overall sense of “we’re pretty smart”. Which I suppose is fine because it’s deep tech and they need to be. However, it does nothing for culture.

Lack of headcount for AE roles means little to no SDR to AE promotions. SDR management/Leadership has changed drastically and often in the past 2 years. No proven method of success. Massive rebuild/restructure over last two years. Growing pains of a company going from 1.5k to 3k employees. The product vision is unclear and Confluent is facing challenges from an increasing number of competitive options. Leads are incredibly rare and the incentive structure was recently redone to be unachievable. Almost everyone is at 0% or lower for their consumption quota.
