Confluent is a game changing solution. It is however a platform play- it’s a foundational change in the way technology is viewed and used in the pipeline so it typically encompasses a long sales cycle. Kafka is its own product and its own biggest competitor.

Confluent was a great place to sell until the Oracle Direct crew ascended into power and the cronyism went rampant. High quality and experienced leaders still exist in the regulated/financial services space, but top-down you can expect an Oracle like culture.

I really enjoyed working with Confluent pre IPO. After the IPO we became very concerned with profit margin. As the ecoomy and markets began to tank we became even more focused on cost cutting.
