Question

I understand Atlassian recently went through significant changes, including to territories and comp. How are people feeling about them? Is now a good time to join the company?

You are correct in that Atlassian has gone through significant changes recently. We are still awaiting for a new CRO to start which will only disrupt things further. Additionally, territories have shrunk, quotas have grown. I recommend revisiting mid-2025. It’s a pretty toxic culture at the moment.

The changes weren't well-received. They downgraded everybody by one market segment  (e.g. large accounts to mid-market) and people had to re-apply to get back up, and everybody also had to take a pay cut (except for the countries where this is illegal, there they asked to accept a voluntary pay cut). The transition has been a bit chaotic, but where there's chaos there's also opportunity. It might not be a bad time to join as they hire like crazy now, but given what we've been through, the trust is a bit shaken and I wouldn't recommend a friend to join because of it. 
I see a problem with the long-term vision as I'm not sure just how long-term sales growth will be sustained with the limited set of solutions we have, so personally, I could imagine a second round of restructurings and job cuts in 2-3 years.

Recent changes definitely led to a lot of misgivings. However, Atlassian is still worth a shot, and there are open roles we are definitely trying to fill, so despite the recent downward trend, I would still recommend joining now rather than later. Atlassian is still above average!
