What specific examples can you share that showcase the sales organization culture at Zendesk?

It’s toxic. Specific examples, someone on my team was 80% To quota at the beginning of Q4 and put on a PIP

Managers and directors butter you up only to stab you in the back. Only about 20% of reps actually hit quota. Last I checked 60% of sales staff and leadership left. SVP of sales is a joke.

- Constantly changing w/o notice or efficient announcement
- No one in any dept is aligned or in same page at all
- Exec leadership looks for every way to try to penalize you for any even small discount you offer and reduces your commission by at least 25%. Sometimes 50% depending on situation

First and foremost, it’s rapidly declining day by day since the company was bought out and taken private. Nearly every fellow AE I know here (and honestly people in other departments as well) is miserable. Constantly changing commission structure for worse throughout the year even with no notice.

I left 3 months in. Place sucks. They're all over the place. Super nice co-workers though. My manager was super nice and helpful also but he didn't have a tech background so training and ramping up was awful for me personally. Wasn't worth staying.

If you get placed with a poor manager (maybe 1/4th are good or decent), your career trajectory is nonexistent at ZD. It’s COMPLETELY dependent on who your manager and director is and if they pay attention to your proactive office politics. So many leaders don’t care about their team’s development.

Unfortunately since the PE acquisition, the sales culture has seriously deteriorated. All leadership care about now is the numbers, and how these impact profitability. The collaboration and camaraderie that used to exist before has gone out the window and everyone is just a disposable cog in the system. If you care about culture, quality of leadership and a place where you can thrive, look elsewhere.
