How effective is the sales training program at Paychex for employees aiming to excel in their sales careers?

Training is very far detached from reality. 
The few that are still there talk about "the glory days". "sales" managers rarely have a background in relevant sales/ cant even sell this product themselves.
Any coaching is "just work harder"  80% of sales team did not hit quota last year. Good luck.

You'll get out what you put in. The training is product specific and won't give much to developing sales skills.

I agree you get what you put in when in comes to the training. What's important to note is that the training is industry and product specific meaning you will not receive training on developing your sales skills. That being said if you know how to sell and you learn the product you will do just fine. I've been here about a year now and the potential to make money is absolutely there. I used to work at ADP and that was tough, you could sell sell sell and come out only making an additional 40k on top of your base. At Paychex I'm far from the best and already on track to hit about 120k for the year.

Training program is excellent here. One of the best I've been a part of. Some of it you won't use on the job, but it sets you up for success and the ramp period is generous.
