As a Large Enterprise AE, what are the pros/cons of going with GTS vs. GBS? Are there skills or personality traits that make you a better fit in either?

GTS is the longest standing business unit of Gartner, with IT being Gartner's "bread and butter." Because of this, GTS has a much more refined process and you'll find a lot more cohesion working in GTS. Gartner created and expanded GBS through acquisitions of companies like CEB. These companies did what GTS did but in the context of Finance, HR, Supply Chain, etc.

If you're more interested in leaving your mark and climbing the corporate ranks, I'd say GBS probably offers you the best path to do that, considering it's functional immaturity. But if you're looking for stability, GTS is the place to be.

Two completely different beasts. GTS is extremely mature and if a client isn’t working with us, they are missing out. 
On the GBS side, it’s a more a work in progress but it’s more relaxed persay a little harder of sell but still great. 
I would go for the role you have more experience with.

GTS - traditional ‘core’ business - mature, more processes & recognised. Experienced, long serving management and more ‘rigid’. If you want opportunity in tech afterwards, good option.
GBS - developing & growing fast, new products / services / delivery models (based on GTS). A lot of opportunity.
