Saw this Dell RTO news - thats a deal breaker for me.  No way that truly applies to the Sales Org as well? come on.

It applies to the inside sellers. Back to three days per week in office if you live within one hour of a Dell office, as it was pre-pandemic.

The RTO is/was a calculated decision by senior leaders. One of the biggest attracters for Dell is/was work life balance and the ability to WFH. That was public information and discussed on several internal calls. The decision was made largely based on Dell's waning profitability reports. By demanding RTO this would knowingly force a percentage of employees to quit. Reps quitting looks much better than another Dell layoff, which subsequently is slated to happen post another poor performance this qtr.

Depends on where you live, the RTO is if you live within on hour of a main Dell office, it doesn't apply for all offices and if you live farther than 1 hour is not mandatory

I have heard that it will really depend on your direct manager and your quota percentage. Only time will tell but it seems that ISMs will be in charge of keeping track of this.

This might be a good thing if Dell had more, smaller satellite offices, but they're usually in large cities where it takes forever to get around. Nashville, OKC, and Austin are expensive and stacked with cars on the roads, so getting anywhere in a timely manner is a high stress-low reward risk.

Actually, it's the (inside) sales organization that Dell executive leadership is MOST interested in getting back into the office. Field sellers are mostly remote and will likely stay remote.
