For Dell NGSA, how quickly do people get promoted to AE or AM? And besides those two, are there other sales roles that people from the NGSA program can get promoted into?

NGSA sales team member are eligible at the 18 month mark.  Around 12 months, they're introducing themselves to DMs to get acquainted and ensure their name is on the bench of hiring managers (I was a sales leader, hired/promoted from the NGSA program).  They can get promoted out to the field and relocate to wherever the role is - LA, Sacramento, Atlanta, whatever.  If you're in that program or interviewing for it and you're early in career - be willing to bet on yourself - get to the field where your income will triple quickly compared to NGSA if you do well as a field AE.  When I interviewed NGSA folks - I would always ask them to stack rank the markets they want to live in, and gauge their sense of do they want to work in Core, Specialty, Client (mousepads) or do they just want to get to the field and start making serious coin. From what I seen it was within 2-ish yearsdepending on your progress.  But the money already has gone up as you progress through NGSA.  Other roles people may go to is a data centre specialist (techy) or data protection specialist.  Some people even got promoted within the NGSA to ISM for the team.

There are couple streams for NGSA - typically core AE, specialty AE or the ISG team.

There are also routes such as alliances and partner/channel, those these tend to be less common.

In the UK, from an ISR role it can take from 6 - 18 months, depending on field roles and network created

In the NGSA program, you start off as an SDR/BDR, which lasts about 6-18 months depending on your performance. After this first role, you will be promoted to an ISR level role which typically lasts 9-18 months. After the ISR role you have the opportunity to become an AE, specialty rep, or manager.

The previous NGSA role was a twelve-to-eighteen-month role and then promoted to a specialty or field AE role. Dell is promoting new sales personnel faster and paying less.

Promotions from the NGSA program into an AE role are happening much sooner in recent months as Dell has aggressively reduced the size of its tenured workforce. It's not unusual to see promos from NGSA into AE1 roles as early as 9 months in role, though it's usually closer to 12-15 months. 
Successful NGSA candidates can also be promoted into specialty sales roles that support the AE organization, some of which pay more than the AE role because of the technical acumen required.
