Carta is a good place to work and then also not. It’s hard to explain. People aren’t regularly hitting quotas, at least not right now. They’ve raised the quotas to impossible numbers and there are too many reps per team making inbounds less frequent. The people at Carta are great outside of most of the managers.

Amazing product market fit and solid inbound lead flow (for cap table product), with good OTE compensation. Company has tendency to over-hire and squeeze reps out, but this is not uncommon in SAAS. The Carta SMB team is an inbound referral engine. Fast deal cycles, although some prospects need much more hand-holding than others as they're typically first time founders. Currently more reps miss than hit, as there's nowhere left to prospect (closed 60%+ of the market, we only sell to net-new, no limit on book size).

Been great so far until recently. Poor management prevents certain individuals with a particular background from succeeding by moving the goal post or withholding information about open roles. I would say it’s definitely achievable to hit the SDR quota but still not easy or a given, especially in the first 6 months. It depends what business unit you’re apart of. C-corp team has best product market fit so it’s easier to hit quota but quota is much higher for them. My overall experience at Carta has been incredible. Great people, solid leadership, and strong product-market fit. Quotas are a stretch each month, but certainly attainable. Pay is top of market. Enablement is steadily improving, and with that comes more meetings. Leadership like many in Sales are cheerleaders until you are behind the 8 ball and have minimal sympathy or actionable advice. Almost all come from outside the org and haven't sold Carta before.
