Is the culture as bad as they say it is on Glassdoor?

Worse. It's like working for the Roy children from "Succession" but without any of the intelligence, competence, or credibility. Morale and performance in my office is at an all-time low. Their solution? Micromanage 10x as hard and double down on strategies that aren't working, without addressing any of the causes. Darktrace senior leadership is expressly uninterested in making any changes to culture, enablement, salesforce structure, commission, etc., simply out of spite and because that's "how we've always done it." The exact words from a VP I spoke with about this.

Glassdoor reviews and ratings are extremely accurate. Some regions and sales teams have a great culture (see Canada and Florida Office), others have horrendous ones (See TOLA Region).

It is far worse. They've never even treated any employee to any events, or dinner even during the sales kickoff. it's a pressure cooker environment, with vast majority of people not succeeding. Due to very poor execution and strategy. The whole company uses spray and pray approach to sales.

Darktrace does not care about its employees. I was there for a while and it's quite blatant. If you can handle being treated like shit and micromanaged then great, it tells all other employers that you've got most of what it takes to handle yourself and you can probably close. In the long term, a toxic culture will kill any good will within employees, customers and product. I don't believe they think they need to change, therefore they won't.It was one of the best and worst professional experiences of my career, which is a very odd thing to say. Would I do it again, probably, I did learn a lot but if you cannot separate your self worth from the bullshit they dish out, you will not last, this is not for the faint hearted. They are British, they are top down, they are ruthless, they don't give a fk. It's why they're growing so fast, this is partially good in business but this model does not last, as such they have atrocious rention.On a positive note their training program is exceptional. You can go in there knowing zero about software or security and after a month, you'll be like Harry Potter, casting spells and shit. Highly recommended just for the knowledge gap they can fill for a new rep. If only they could retain their people!

Product is awesome, market loves it. 
Base salary sucks, compensation is awesome, however, this will change in a negative way with the arrival of the new CRO (changes in the compensation structure will be effective on 2H 2023.
Management is the worst I have seen in all my life, no strategy, only pressure about the number. No support at all.

Darktrace has good and bad things going for it. Let's list the good first:
1. Product sells itself. It's fantastic. 
2. Training is world-class.
3. Customer base is awesome.
4. Deal sizes are large.

Now the bad:
1. Upper management is so far disconnected from day-to-day  you truly wonder if they even know what's going on. What I mean by this- they think sales cycles are 4 weeks, they think companies just have extra money to spend on DT, and they constantly use fear through the VPs and Directors to make the sales reps feel like their job is at risk at all times. 
2. The product is WAY too expensive. Yes, it's a good product, but I had my director tell me multiple times to mark it up 20%, then we off a 20% discount so it really is net 0. Horrible tactic when you have a relationship with a buyer and they tell you their budget. 
3. After training, it's sink or swim. There is NO help. You're on your own. 
4. The Enterprise AE role is overwhelming. You are an SDR, an AE, a KAM, and a CSM all in one. Even if you have a 50 hour work day, you still couldn't get eveything done. 
5. No inbound leads. At all. For a public company, it's SHOCKING.
6. They JUST brought on Salesloft when I was there. It was a mess. Doesn't connect to the CRM properly, you can't email existing customers through the platform, it took WEEKS to migrate things over to it. Oh, and management just sits all day reading the stats. 
7. I think this is the worst one- there's no career path. When I was hired, I was told they promote from within. I have seen 1 AE get promoted to director, and they have hired 5 outside directors. I've seen 2 SDRS get promoted to AEs, while they have hired 32 (yes, 32) new AEs in the last 6 months. 
8. There are no goals or incentives. Never once had a meeting about my performance, what I could do better, how to take my career to the next level, what those promotion timelines look like, what do I need to close to get there, even after asking multiple times.

All in all- great place to learn about cyber security. If you're early in your career, you're going to get very little feedback and guidance which can definitely stunt your growth. It's a VERY young team. A lot of first-time salespeople, and it shows. You could get lucky with a great VP/Director and team lead, but it's a roll of the dice.
