Question

Darktrace has a famously bad sales culture. Recruiter told me they just overhauled how they operate. Anyone currently on the inside have feedback on how optimistic they are about the changes?

My previous comment may have been suppressed for being too real. But I agree in part with the two other responses here so far. While stressing the fact that it is still high-pressure sales on both reps and customers. In my opinion, it will take a couple of years to change things completely to be a normal company. Beware.

'Just overhauled'. Key word here. In my opinion will take a couple years to turn things to a better track. The traditional pressure atmosphere and processes, ie. putting pressure on reps to crank out deals quickly and micromanaging the metric activities that get you to those deals have to change. Still too many people here (management and reps included) who are used to doing things the old way. Once these guys get overwritten, then positive change can happen.

I would say if you are a former employee, apply, have the conversations and talk to the leadership about what has changed. Darktrace has made drastic improvements since last July.  Give them another try. You already know the product so could ramp up fairly quickly.

I‘d say it depends on the region you are applying for. They made lot of changes since last July. It‘s still high pressure and full circle sales. The advantage is that you earn lots of money tho.

What I do not like is the „always pressure on“ mentality. Too much pressure on prospects and on AEs.

Still a very stressful sales culture but it is a great early career role to learn a lot of cybersecurity and sales. Earning potential is decent. I would not work at Darktrace with 10+ years of experience. But if you have 1-5, it’s not bad.

I left right as the overhaul was starting. I think it's going in a great direction, and my former colleagues believe the same thing. Candidly there were a lot of under-qualified leaders in place, and the SVP of Global says is just WAY in over her head, and was the leading driver for a lot of issues going on the past 3-5 years. I'd consider going back if the opportunity presented itself down the road.
