I am a current sales engineer looking to make the switch to account executive. What is the typical hierarchy for account executive titles. From smb, mid market, enterprise, commercial, etc. I got offered a commercial AE role and I want to know if that the bottom of the totem pole or not.

AE is new business, commercial is mid market companies, likely 200-500 employees. Biggest problem is that while ZI is a leader on data, sometimes you will find that you are in one category but have accounts from a lower. (i.e. being in enterprise but having accts with 750 employees. Commercial is a good spot but speed and pressure are high.

New Biz or R&G? Commercial not bad. Especially if you're looking for your first sales role. Selling ZI is easy, and if you've been an SE, you know the value prop enough already. Now you just gotta follow up and not just be the smart guy on calls.

For New Business AEs, Commercial is the lowest. You’ll typically get companies with up to five salespeople. Pro of that is that sales cycles will be super fast, but it is a numbers game. Better be ready to go and self-source deals. That said, the best Comm reps have gotten promoted up within a year

The hierarchy is SMB (Commercial) -> Mid-Market (Corporate) -> Strategic (Enterprise). Almost all New hires start as a Commercial Rep, but they will promote quickly based on performance. You could be promoted in 3-6 months if you crush it. I went from Commercial to Strat in about a 18-months.

Enterprise sales here. The sales structure goes SMB, MM, Enterprise, Strategic. Havent heard of commercial AE, ZI designates each segment by AEl, AEll, AElll in regards to placement.
