Which divisions, regions, or business units may be more or most advantageous to sell for and why?

Stay away from the Large Enterprise team. This includes : key accounts, strategic accounts and select. The leadership is abusive and there is a firing culture and tons of favoritism.

New Business reps are mostly receiving inbound leads: high velocity, not traditional hunting.
Client Development has more prospecting.
Performance and market maturity varies a lot between verticals, regions and segments. The book of business you get does matter quite a bit, sadly.

With the changes being made to compete with companies targeting smaller businesses, if I could do it all over, I would try to get into a Mid-market, SMB, or Emerging role in either New Business or Client Development depending on your preference. You can make huge commissions selling into those types of businesses at prices that make tons of sense for their needs if you aim to set up ELAs or department-wide deployments and don't just focus on the transactional part of those roles. Pay more attention to the % commission ranter than the OTE if you know you are a capable salesperson.

IMO the Client Development role there is probably the best general move. You aren't vulnerable to lead flow and get a long leash on how you want to strategically manage your territory.Smartsheet is great for getting at bats with more solution oriented selling and the CDM role delivers that pretty well. It's pretty tedious and is definitely a grind though.
