Currently interviewing for MM AE role in the US. I'm sensing based on the replies that Smartsheet is hiring to fire - is this the case? With the recent acquisition and fears of upcoming RIFs, curious what their motive would be to bring in new reps

I was thinking the same - but they are backfilling/hiring happening across the sales organization. I think MM is safe (for now) and don’t think they’ll make any huge changes right away. Just be ready for a lot of changes (teams/managers/directors) in Q1/Q2 next year.

I would be very skeptical of joining Smartsheet until the acquisition goes through. It definitely feels like there is going to be a RIF in the coming months but none of us know for sure.

Pretty much everyone here is expecting layoffs once the acquisition is finalized. There have been over a half dozen of VP/SVPs who have left this year across Sales and Marketing.

MM reps arent selling. Slowest segment at smartsheet (New biz and Expansion)

MM AE is less risky than other, smaller segments (Emerging and SMB) but a massive reorg and RIF post-acquisition seems inevitable.  I would really do your diligence to dig into that manager's / team's performance both last year and YTD and how they're stacking up against the other MM teams across the business - some teams are doing alright, others not so much... joining a MM team that isn't in the top 25% of performers in their segment would be unwise right now, to put it gently.

The motivation is that the leadership team has to blame someone for virtually every segment failing to hit quota and holding themselves accountable is out of the question. So they continue to cycle reps in and out to feel like they’re doing something.
