What is the realistic earning potential if your starting OTE is $170 in the SMB AE role at Mulesot? Why is the quota attainment so low for Mulesoft ?

If you crush it and do well you can make +300k, if you don't then you will be a lot closer to your base salary. Mulesoft deals can take quite a bit of time as they are very heavy in technical discovery and demo. I have seen MS reps crush it and make a TON of money and I have seen some that struggle to find new deals and also find ongoing deals that MS should be a part of. Hope this helps!

Not a mulesoft rep, but I am in SMB. I would say only a very small percent of Mule reps are even close to that $170k OTE number. Expect maybe $120k

In this market, you’ll probably struggle to hit $170k but you may get lucky. Some do. As far as Mulesoft goes, their flagship product (Anypoint) is more robust and complex than most SMB customers can handle. You’ll probably sell more composer, or automation than Anypoint.

Currently employee - not in Mulesoft, but I oversee it all.
It is literally a roll of the dice on your territory. Which means it is random. So “luck”. We have bad reps who make a lot of money, and good reps not making any money.
I’d say take the job if you can live on 75% of OTE.
