I had an interview recently and the managers feedback in the interview was they could see me at Salesforce and I would do well, but in another channel which may be closer aligned to my previous experience. Is this common? What will they do next?

They may flip you to another open role. I would be proactive with the recruiter, tell them the feedback, and ask if there's another role they think you're better suited to fill. SFDC is constantly hiring, firing, and re-hiring so there's a chance something is out there. The interviewer may also have something specific in mind. If it doesn't work out then don't take it personally and move on to the next opportunity somewhere else.

Are you applying for a Sales role? Did they say Vertical? If so, this means your industry experience is more aligned with another Vertical. Or possibly they were referring to Account Tier? SMB, Commercial or Enterprise? They most likely will keep you on file or forward you to another hiring manager in the "channel" they think you are most aligned with.

Very common. There are so many different roles, verticals and segments that it wouldn’t surprise me at all to hear that feedback.

Are they recommending you to a different role or a different vertical? It is relatively common for Salesforce to do this. Most important part is that they want you to be there.
