I love SEMRush. It’s a great tool and I loved the company I started working for. For a time it was legitimately the best job I ever had. This is all past tense. Changes in sales leadership are constant with a CEO who doesn’t believe he needs a sales team at all. Quotas are ever changing, with a 262% quota increase in q1 alone. There is a distinct lack of communication between departments and a lack of training as roles change. The money can be good, the actual job itself, working with businesses on their game plans and providing the right tools is fun, it’s just an overall mess of an organization, and sadly that doesn’t appear to be changing anytime soon. 3 CSO’s in 2 years…

Tenured sellers at Semrush do very well. Quota has doubled since 2023 and the compensation plan has changed drastically to protect the company vs sellers. The product is great, and after year+ you can begin to sell some larger deals. The MM job description is not accurate, however. You end up doing CSM, technical AM, and SE work. I was with the Kompyte business unit. The product is vastly inferior to Klue + Crayon. The Sales team had 12 head to head deals with Klue in Q1 and lost all of them. The CEO and COO don't know what they're doing and are scared for their jobs. They have a habit of randomly firing people and blaming them for the current quarter's numbers.
