How is the work life balance for an Enterprise AE role?

The EAE handles everything sales end to end. Very limited support from SDR's, marketing, other support functions,  etc. To that end, it depends on the accounts you're assigned. Without the right accounts, work/life balance is kind of out the door if your primary focus is hitting OTE.

Awful. I work nights and weekends just to meet the planning requirements (mapping applications/workloads, prospecting targets, outreach plans, etc)

Almost non existent for an Enterprise AE. No SDR support when you start, and an extreme call heavy culture.

Work life balance is normal for a SDR role. New EAE's get no SDR support, no marketing or other aspects. The expectations are that of an SDR. Set meetings and that is all that matters.

MongoDB is a relatively young company who is evolving into a more strategic enterprise solution at an incredibly fast 
pace. This is exciting but as you can imagine

The pace and expectations to buikd awareness is high. The responsibilities of an EAE go well beyond what a typical EAE is at a more established organization may experience 
 You are responsible for renewals, expansion, and net new identification of workloads, content awareness, and more. You feel like a mini marketing, customer services, sales unit yourself.

From a cultural perspective Balance is encouraged. The people are kind, hardworking, and understanding but there are some pockets of run rate style selling given the nature of the business. If you have ever been part of a high performing team in sports mounting a championship season. It feels like alot like that.

To be successful in this org you need to be discipline and structured. The week to week preparation and operational rhythm takes sometime to adjust to. But it's certainly turned me into a morning person. Waking up early to prepare for outreach campaigns, calls, and awareness.  Sometimes I do some work on Sundays for the peace of mind but I would say this is not encouraged or required. It's a role and company where you need to understand what you are stepping to and truly believe that the product we are selling can have a positive impact to your clients.

IMO you can look at it two ways, the expectations are high, the culture is built around a consistent pace of execution which can certainly be a challenge, or like me I view it as a vehicle for personal growth. In alot of ways its making a better sales professional and leader and for the most part feel leadership is honest, fair, and incentives the workforce well and fair.

Can you find another org that doesn't have these expectations? and still make good money, sure. but I think many who Join MongoDB are embracing the opportunity and challenge to either learn to be  a better sales professional, or the opportunity to make life changing money.

Work life balance can be achieved and maintained but like beign part kf a high performance teams executing the key tasks day in day out is the expectation. So far my leaders are upfront and honest. Always willing to help and provide support when needed.

the role forces you to adopt and adapt to a more structured disciplined approach which I personally enjoy but can certainly see how that can be a challenge for others.

Overall, it depends how skillful you are at managing your time, preparing, and executing. Some struggle with this early on, others thrive.

The good thing is ultimately it's on you and there aren't any surprises into what you are expected to do which I enjoy and respect.

At MongoDB you need to work, that is clear. Due to MongoDB's high standards of excellence the ramping phase is intense. After that normal weeks are around 50 hours per week.

Great balance here so far. Not just time for daily obligations (family, kids, appointments etc.), but from the C-Level down they preach taking care of yourself. Take breaks, get away when you need to. Prioritize your well being and it will positively impact your work. Definitely a hard working organization but make a point that balance is important
