IBM to not hire for roles that AI can do.... ok so are they still hiring SDRs?

IBM has been mostly on a hiring freeze since September of 2023. I think roles may have been posted externally as evergreen openings but there was no external hiring, just internal moves.

From what I understand, IBM doesn't hire SDR's. They primarily hire sellers from college, give them 6 weeks of training, then place them in role, at least for technical sellers. Digital Sales may be different, but I don't belive so. Most of the early professional hires I worked with (all technical sales) complained about a lack of development and support, poor tools and training, and intense ambiguity about their role and what it means to be successful. The company has no real career path for its sellers, either, making it that much harder to hire entry level roles like SDR.

Speaking from internally, even if they are ever hiring SDR type roles, it’s not a very valuable position and most sellers hardly work with them aside from being passed a random marketing inbound. The SDR teams have always been a bit mysterious and re-orged enough that nobody really keeps up. Aside from that, this is just not a company you would even get valuable SDR experience at. 
That aside, I do have to correct the previous responder as there have been outside hires added somewhat regularly over the past half. Definitely no growth but when a seller has left, the role is posted and they have been replaced by an external hire (at least in the North America software).  I would continue to trust any external headcount they have out there
