Question

Quota Attainment across the board still seems solid - is that accurate? I guess an ExCo budget for CYA consulting is one of the last to get cut. May the good times roll!

I'm not at Gartner anymore, but was there through 2020 as a Sr. AE and I look back and was so impressed at how they handled things. Internally the company lost it's entire events business, but tightened their belts where necessary and gave sellers all the tools in the world to succeed while clients/prospects budgets were getting slashed. Most companies retained/purchased Gartner through the downturn as the product that Gartner provides is tremendously valuable.

Two things I would say.  First, Gartner is needed in both good times and bad by both End Users and Vendors (high tech).  Second, the attainment of 'quota' depends on your retention and your growth.  So if current customer retention is strong, you need less growth to hit to hit your numbers.  Even with no growth in your territory, you should hit about 70-80% of your number.  Consistently achieving high retention with enough growth to hit plan or Winners Circle is the measurement that counts.
