Amazon is a great place to work, the AWS product is outstanding and the projects you can work on are extremely interesting. Having said that mid-level management can get too focussed on soft-KPI's/reporting of numbers and lose the Customer Obsession in this way, which is disappointing. The colleagues you work with are great, the interview process is rather difficult so in general you work with bar-raising individuals which is an absolute blast.

Not for everybody and a challenging place to work, but worth it. Incredibly smart team around you, strong product-market fit, and among the best realistic potential earnings (short and long term).

Overall, I enjoyed my time at AWS. It was a diverse workplace with lots of interesting projects and inspiring leaders. The layoffs in Spring 2023 impacted me which gave me a negative outlook since I was a high performer within my segment.
