Question

Inbound lead and opportunity is pretty low. Is there a certain quota you have to hit by just doing cold calls? What happens if you don’t hit the quota?

Depends on your role. For Core there are not inbound leads. All your own prospecting/networking. Up Market and Current client DMs receive inbound leads that probably amount to ~25% of annual quota. As long as you’re making an honest effort you will stick around. I’ve seen reps not make quota for 2-3 years and not be fired and often times end up really thriving. It is a good company to sell for and the management overall is awesome. If you do well there are speciality roles you can get into that print.

ADP is channel driven company because of its brand recognition in the banking and accounting sector.

Bc of this, ADP relies heavily on building  channel sale relationships.

With that being said, most departments want to at least 2 if not 5 or even 7 meetings a week where you quote price ans run through an appt.

Some department kpi metrics said you need to have "75 conversations a week" that was brought down to about 20 in smb.

In the Mid to Up Market, things are different because the sales process is much longer. The KPI metrics are more vague because 2 deals a year can get you to quota.

ADP relies heavily on in person visits. As long as you try, missing quota is not that big of deal. If you have a bad attitude and they figure it out, then that is a different story. The company understands that selling payrollvis challenging- it is not tangible and it is one of the few sass products that directly affect each person in the organization you are selling to.

Overall, ADP does get a bad rap but a lot the stories you hear are specific regions and managers- company is too large to say it a standard across the board. I have heard people have loved ADP compared to other companies more desirable like Salesforce. I have enjoyed my time here and thought of leaving but in the end, the product is a necessity not a "nice to have."

After your first two months you have a monthly quota you must hit. If you don’t hit by your 6th month, you will more than likely will be put in a PIP. Depending on the city/town you work for the first year it’ll be all door to door and cold calling, unless you get lucky with a CPA/Broker/ and/or bank

It depends on your business unit or position within the company. Would you be inbound prospect? Field sales? Outbound? It’s hard to answer unless you know what position you’re looking at. If you are inbound prospect you get a ton of leads I’m talking at least 15 a week and on top of that call ins. I’d say half are qualified. If you hit quota you’ll receive a unit bonus based on how many units you sold in that month. Quotas can be pretty hefty depending on what space you’re selling to ei smb, mid market, enterprise. Depends on your manager. I hated the micromanagement on calls, meetings set and meetings attended as a tenured rep but understand newbies may require those guardrails. Only thing that really matters is monthly quota attainment. If you’re trying and missing quota nothing will happen but if you’re half-assing it and consistently missing you’re probably getting walked out after 3-4 months.

Your quota is set in relation to your assigned territory and the businesses you will be calling on.  If you do not make your quota, you will be put on an action plan and eventually let go if improvement is not achieved.
