Overall a good place to work. Good work-life balance, decent compensation, excellent tools and training. I really enjoyed my time at Grainger and would work there again. They have really good sales enablement which simplifies a lot of the complex things we did. The only bad part is that everyone's comp is the same if you meet quota, and quota is based upon % increase of your territory. IE if you have a 4M territory with a 10% increase quota.- significantly more is required of you vs. a 2M territory with a 10% increase quota yet you would be paid the same. The only other issue is it's extremely difficult to get promoted. It's very much a "who you know" and the funnel gets very narrow. Imagine - there are like 1000 account managers - but only 90 managers who manage those people (district sales manager), and they dont turn over that often. This leads to some insanely competitive opportunities that usually go to who is friends with the hiring manager, as a majority of the candidates are more than capable already since training is quite good.
