I worked at Upwork, and while there were some positives, my overall experience was mixed. The company culture was supportive and engaging, especially if you were on the leadership's radar. This created a somewhat uneven environment, where those favored by leadership enjoyed more opportunities and recognition. On the sales side, many of my colleagues struggled to meet their quotas. It wasn’t necessarily due to lack of effort or skill, but more so because the product didn’t seem to align well with the market needs. This misalignment made it challenging to achieve the targets consistently. Upwork has the potential to be a great place to work, but success there seems heavily influenced by internal dynamics and market fit challenges.

Front line sales leadership was amazing, but lessened as it went up the chain. Leadership training was available and well structured, and we had funds available for extra development and training.
