How effective is the sales training program at Thomson Reuters for individuals interested in working in sales?

In the TAP (Tax & Accounting Professionals) side of the business, the training is piss poor. They gave me 1 full month dedicated to training and only about 10% actually applied to my job or even the industry I was in. TR has a HORRIBLE training process

It's pretty thorogh, and 4 weeks of webex/teams learning with your peers and a 4 mth ramped quota will seem like overkill but you'll be thankful they did because you'll be ready

For the SE role in Small Law (1-10 Attorney size firm) It is a 4-week training to start, then you are in seat with a 4-month ramp period. During that time there is continued group training and 1 on 1 training for about the first 12 months. Once you are in seat and on your team. That is who you rely on to help you out with the real-life day to day challenges. There is a lot to learn if you have never sold Legal Research Software, so it is overwhelming for awhile. But then the more you learn the more you pick up.

Sales training is virtually non existent as they have downsized dramatically staff positions (Eagan campus went from 6000+ to under 2000).   Most of the sales training is done by managers who are managers because they were tired of selling or were average sales reps.   The training is mostly on products and not GTM strategies.   Best bet is to get familiar with the products on your own time and then find the top reps and see if you can get them to help.

The division I was part of had very comprehensive training.  The sales organization would have a retreat once a year as well as ongoing training and support.
