What is the Account Specialist role? Is it essentially a junior AE or an SDR/BDR? I was approached for an interview but I'm not sure this is an appropriate level role for me.

Do you mean Specialist AE? If yes, it's an AE role where you are responsible for selling a specific product and work alongside the "Core AE" who manages the overall relationship between the customer and Salesforce. You still have specific customers you work with and carry a quota. It's an AE role, not SDR/BDR.

Just ask the recruiter what product and segment it is (MM/GB/ENT).

Account Specialist is closer to an AE and based off a team #. They do full cycle sales but don’t have named accounts and customers fall into a team pool. It is mostly all inbound requests, and Account Specialists are also comped on CSAT scores from the cases that come in that they see to closure.

Hi! Account Specialist handle very very small accounts. Its an AE role but you are also handled inbound leads and customer service. Career path wise I would recommend Small Business if you are wanting to go into sales

Account Specialist is an AE that handles inbound opportunities with companies that have 4-6 FTE (full time employees), and also handle cases submitted by customers in the SMB Account Pool (huge pool of accounts with no designated AE). It's the most entry level AE role at Salesforce. No prospecting required in that role though.

I was an account specialist for Service Cloud. It's more of a traditional "Co-Prime" AE role, not considered a junior AE and definitely not a SDR/BDR. However, you have limited control over your own success because the Core AE's still manage the overall customer relationship.  A lot of internal politics and I didn't like it. I do know a lot of good reps who've been successful in the role and made good money. Just depends on your tolerance for all the b/s salesforce has to offer.
