Question

I am being put on an Informal Coaching plan. Nothing makes sense and my manager refuses to provide clear feedback on the gaps identified, I finished well above my quota - over 150% last FY. I feel like I am being pushed out, and dismissal being constructed. What should I do?

Experiencing the same thing personally. Recognized by leadership as a successful contributor in FY24, not even halfway through the year (which is typically slowest time of the year) and being presented informal coaching plan.

Either do your best to hit KPIs, or find something else IMO

I experienced a similar thing when I was there. There was only one AE on my team that was hitting quota. Quickly realized I wasn't in the best position to win due to the acquired book and rookie mgr. All the feedback given in this thread is spot on. Look for next opp. Your time is limited.

Agree with other comments on here. I was put on the same thing. It will likely turn into a PIP.  Didn’t feel like there was a lot I was able to control in the situation.

This is what happened to me.  Take the severance package and go.  This is designed for you to leave without them having to do official layoffs.  I found that it’s less about quota and more about who you drink with.

That’s because you are not in the inner circle of the management. That’s what I am seeing in my region. They fired long tenured rep that had contributed to their success, but when new management came, they just fired the old ones hired their own people. No such ohana. All these are nonsense.

Not much you can do, they’ve started to manage you out of the company. Once you’re put on the plans, they’ve determined you are no longer a fit and will work towards you leaving the company. Wait it out, but start looking elsewhere

I had this happen as well. Usually, the "Informal Coaching" is just their ammo for an official PIP.  Once the informal period was over several teammates were offered a PIP or a few weeks severance if they just agreed to leave.

Curious, what Vertical/Segment? And are you located in a hub? Been hearing a lot that they are pushing SMB and GRB AE's out of the non-traditional hubs

To answer some of the questions - I over-achieved in patch that never made its number before I joined. Not off a single deal, although I did have 2 large deals. Had a really good outlook for this FY. I saw my managers commit deals from my patch that I had warned them about and also did not agree to comply with carrying out non compliant activities that they wanted me to do (I work Pub Sec). I feel like they are blame shifting even though I did not mislead the business with pipeline.

Hi sorry to hear that you are feeling that way. There are many reasons someone may be put on a ICP or PIP even if they did hit their ACV number. While ACV is extremely important there are many other metrics that go into being successful at Salesforce. For example, someone may get really lucky and strike gold on one account and that puts them well over their ACV target, but they are not working hard, contributing off-dash and lacking on-dash. Best of luck! I would reach out to your manager or do a skip-level on this ASAP. If you feel like you are being personally attacked please reach out to HR immediately.
