What are the best/worst things about selling at Oracle?

Worst: a bad manager can make or break your experience there. Customers generally don’t like Oracle so there is always hurdles to overcome initially. You are a number at Oracle and completely dispensable.

Worst:  Most customers hate Oracle.  Lots of competition internally within the reps, you are calling into the same accounts your security, hardware, applications, etc' oracle reps are calling into.  A manager can make or break your time at Oracle.  Training is a-okay, not the best.  Oracle has an atrocious internal CRM.  Comp plans change on you without your consent through the year a way for Oracle to keep more money for themselves, screw you on comp, etc

Best things are top-notch training, a chance to solve unique problems for customers, great benefits and perks, and working with like-minded people.

Worst things are internal processes slow down deal cycles (get in their own way), internal competition between different teams that lead to customer frustration, lot of changes after each FY.

Leadership is not. Examples: your territory (not ours.) Talk only about sports on team calls. Use the word team while disrespecting  someone, every pronoun masculine, praising people who work 100+ hours a week (when you do the math, you’re making no money here when you calculate hours/income,) and they are not helpful, ever, with accounts. I had a $1m ARR deal and my manager said, you want help, get that over $3m. 
AND, to generate a quote and get it approved requires a Ph.d and weeks of screen staring at night.

My training was awful, very uncoordinated. Granted it was all remote, I never met a colleague in-person due to covid.

Manager was great, team was great but I simply couldn’t find or get answers in a timely manner which drove me nuts.

Also once you’re in, very difficult to get a pay increase on salary.

Really depends upon the the division you are with and the accounts/territory given to you.  Can be luck of the draw with what is given as for list of accounts.  Many companies are Oracle averse...been burned in the past and don't want to deal with Oracle.  Many Oracle reps calling on accounts which can leave a bad taste with customers.  Can be good money but also a long go for a sale depending on what hand you are delt.

Everyone knows who Oracle is.  Their Cloud offerings are strong.  If you can get prospects and customers to look past some of negative perceptions about Oracle - there are some bad actors and competitive strife among sales teams remains - the technology is very strong, and priced very competitively.

Best: high earning potential, flexiblilty that comes from remote work, good leadership, good comp structure (Oracle Cloud)

Worst: Internal assistance (SalesHelp), the job is very monotonous (maybe this is just sales in general), hurdles with customers not liking Oracle from past experiences

Best:  Potential to make a lot of money; brand recognition

Worst: Manager will make or break your experience.  I was put on a team with a new manager and he tanked my career.  He picked favorites on the team and funneled all inbound leads to them.  We were left to fight over scraps.  Inbound leads are terrible.  They are constantly shifting teams/territories.  The amount of internal meetings and weekly metrics to hit are insane.

Truly depends on where you land. Leadership varies widely as do comp plans and earnings.

Good - benefits are great. Cloud tech is leading the market. AI is going to be killer.

Bad- internal systems and process. Deal Management is based in India making it very challenging to get approvals quickly.

Really depends on the product. IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS are doing really well and making up market share quickly. License business is dying, would be surprised if it isn't bundled in with the cloud team in the next couple of years. 
I would echo other users, huge account base to migrate to cloud with good value props. Negative is the tools we have access too are poor at best. Management is very hit or miss as well.

Best: Prospects and customers usually don't have a good impression of Oracle's business practices.
Products are strong and competitive, although usually the highest price.
Worst: Highly political, Dog-eat-dog culture versus collaborative. Employees are numbers and disposable.
