What's the role / compensation / Working life like for someone joining the MSE team under GTS? I'm a little turned off by the fact that the rumour mill says it's well below market rate.

It’s definitely true, it’s well below market rate. The MSE GTS segment has very high turnover, and the compensation reflects that. Average tenure is less than 18 months. It’s a good stating job but you can’t make a career out of it as an AE in MSE GTS.

MSE used to be the gold standard to getting into IT sales.  Post-covid it's certainly turned into a churn and burn environment, focused heavily on weekly KPIs at all cost.  Tough to give comp without knowing BD Vs. AM and what level they offer you (based on experience).  It still can be good for the resume, and in today's selling environment, you will get "at-bats" solely with the Gartner brand at your disposal.

Fun environment to work in, especially if it’s your first job out of college. You’re probably right about comp being lower compared to other companies, but you need to consider higher quota attainability and high upside of exceeding quota. You’ll learn a lot about sales and the startup world.

Generally speaking, MSE Account Managers Base/OTE is usually below market rate when compared to a Mid-Market SaaS AEs/CSMs but it does give the advantage of skipping the SDR/BDR phase of a sales career if you are a recent grad or just getting into a tech sales career. Uncapped commission and annual quota's that are very reasonable do allow you to overachieve your variable target within your first year and you're almost always guaranteed to earn a portion of your variable comp target since you will also be paid on renewing multi-year clients. 
If you are looking at BD role in MSE GTS, the pay is slightly more comparable to a SaaS AE role but still likely under what SaaS companies are offering for a comparable NN logo AE role. Hope that helps, good luck!

Left a killer job for this MSE GTS role. Absolute mistake. This organization is horrible to work for. Imagine trying to run a book of business but having to CC your manager on every contact you make to your clients and having your manager sit in and talk over you on every call.  Horrible culture

MSE GTS BD- if you join End User be prepared to navigate a minefield of whichever VP hires you the other one will make it their mission to fire you. If you join HT, you stand a much better chance of being fired than a no-name corporation with no brand name, it's so bad they let go of leadership.

I would advise you to stay away from anything with in Gartner that is aligned to MSE.  Extremely junior, micro managed a& pay is well below market value. it’s looked at as the most junior part of Gartner @ its  very hard to find internal roles within LE when you have the MSE title associated w/ you.

As an AE in MSE HT in UK, work life balance is really good (only 2-5 days in office a month). There’s tough targets and it’s salesy sure, but not micro-managing at all.

Comp wise approx. £40-60k + 20k ish commission hitting target + uncapped (although 10-20% of people will do above that anyway).
