Does Fortinet really have the best product in the market in this space? The Product Market Fit scores on here are really strong? Who are the nearest competitors?

Their FortiGate is a market leader across firewall & SD-WAN segments. The main value is that it combines multiple product categories into one (executives care about consolidation, efficiency and TCO).

The FortiGate is also a switch and access point controller, which allows security integration and automation across the network.

Hence, the nearest competitors across categories are:

- Firewall - Palo Alto Networks
- SD-WAN - VMware Velo Cloud
- Wired & Wireless (Switches & APs) - Cisco, Juniper & HP Aruba
- SASE - Netskope, Zscaler, Palo Alto & Cisco

I would agree with the post from May 16th. If you look at the Gartner Magic Quadrant Fortinet ranks #1 in both the Enterprise Firewall as well as SD-WAN quadrants in the 2022 rankings. Fortinet has about 55ish products, they are not #1 in most BUT they are #1 in their bread & butter areas and the rest usually works well when all connected together.

top products in firewalls and some of the SecOps products and SASE are top notch. Issue is the lack of marketing prowess and spending.

Their product covers a very wide spectrum. Some of it is class-leading and some is meh. 
Fortinet's training/certification is probably tops, and Cisco's is a close second. 
They are easier to do business with than Cisco and have a larger product set than Palo Alto and others.
