What does the onboarding and training process look like for new sales hires at DocuSign? Did you feel adequately prepared for your role?

Yes, the onboarding process is great. It's actually the best sales training I ever had. I would do it all over again if I could! Keep in mind- you must hit 50% of your quota to get commission checks! If you only hit 49%, you won't get a commission check. Depending on your role, it's easy to understand the product. You have to be proactive and ask other BDRs and AEs and executives for their time and ask them how they became successful as well.

It’s a 10 day enablement session where they’ll go over mostly the tech stack (sfdc, outreach, zoom info etc)

You get assigned to mentors and that (with 2-3 1:1s with your manager) is more how you’re gonna learn product/cadences

Personally, the onboarding was extremely informal. You need to be the person to go out and find what you don't know or understand, DocuSign will not provide a full onboarding experience and will put it on the rep to find out for themselves. It took me almost a year before I felt like I knew how to do my job.

I'd agree with the previous comment, though I've been at Docusign for a few years now, the Onboarding could be improved. This for me was a remote learning process, a lot of virtual onboarding meetings over the first few months as you ramp up. Now I believe it's Hybrid for the most part.

In sales there's a lot of hands-on learning, where shadowing and buddying up is a good mechanism for finding your own selling style and applying the sales methodology learned during onboarding.

You're on a ramped target over your first few months. There are also great people to learn from and I do feel it's what you make of it. Your team can really help you get to grips and a good chunk of my colleagues had the patience to help. As an external hire into the role, I didn't really feel fully ramped until 8/9 months in, but you find your pace within a couple of months and then it's about being proactive to find out what you don't know.
