How challenging is the transition from Sales Development Representative to Account Executive  at Collibra?

This used to be a natural transition at Collibra when there was an emerging market team. Now the gap is significantly wider between SDR/AE due to the complexity of the sales cycle. Additionally, sales development does a poor job pathing SDRs anywhere in the organization.

There is no such thing as a smooth transition into an AE role. Last year, they conducted an experiment with three top BDRs to promote them to DQ AEs. However, after 8 months, they terminated their employment along with the entire DQ department. It seemed that they were not adequately prepared for the role, nor were they provided an opportunity to transition into a different role within the department. What was even more concerning was that higher management was already aware that the experiment was successful and had communicated this to some senior staff members long before the affected individuals were informed of the impending changes. That's my two cents.

Making calls and responding to inbound requests is much different than actually selling, and Collibra is a very difficult product to sell. There have been some who have successfully made the transition, but the sales enablement at Collibra is non existent, so many have failed.
