In all my years in sales, I've never experienced a more broken sales organization. It's the most unfair, demoralizing, and counterproductive approach to incentives that I've ever seen. Here are the basics in all the major metros: There are no territories, no assigned verticals, and minimal amount of assigned prospects. So, all of the senior people have all the advantage as they know the best systems for prospecting, get to go to all the company sponsored events, and leave all the rest of the scraps for the poor suckers who somehow missed the memo to avoid this as a place of employment. In normal sales orgs, the senior people level up the newbies. At CoStar, all of the best prospecting and sales techniques are guarded like they're state secrets because if they tell someone else how it's actually done, all they're doing is taking food off of their own table. Couple that with outrageous activity demands. Expectation is to have 60 meetings per month, and 70% of those have to be in-person or they'll take away almost all of your monthly commissions. Impossible metrics that everyone fabricates to achieve. Turnover >80% in 18m. Stay Away!
