How challenging is it to transition from SDR to AE at Anaplan?

Historically, on a scale of 1-10, 8. I'll explain, I transitioned from SDR to AE right when the SMB and Mid Market segments were being built and scaled. But, I was an SDR for 2 years, and rose through the ranks, built my acumen and understanding of multiple industries and use-cases, and my "brand" with the appropriate GTM leaders. Anaplan is an incredibly versatile platform, which an almost end-less opportunity for use-cases across any business. So while the path to AE is arduous, I would argue it's well worth it, and will make you a killer at any company. Since that transition, they've put a lot of resources behind creating a path for SDRs to join the AE ranks so its getting better. Idk how comp has changed but historically SDRs are paid more at Anaplan than most other companies given the complexity and diverse application of the platform.

Nearly impossible currently. The company has removed almost all of the SMB/MM roles as they no longer see value in smaller companies.  Some of the current requirements are to maintain 80% quota attainment over a 2 year period. That is just to be considered.  Also, it is worth noting that currently only around 15-20% of the SDR/BDRs manages to hit their quotas.  To make matters worse, the compensation and incentive package in place is ridiculous. Completely unrealistic numbers with very little to get excited about. 1-2 years ago it was much better, but as time goes on under the new Private Equity leadership things continue to go down.

For reference I came from another large Tech company as an SMB AE.  I took the SDR role here because in the past their was significant value and promise.  However, with the current structure it is nearly impossible to succeed.
