For account executives (CSE’s) how do you like the role compared to other sales positions?

How often you work?  How is the job security?

I’ve only done retail and B2B. Significantly more freedom and compensation compared to other sales roles in the company. Compared to other B2B roles outside of telecom? Pretty bad, you receive 0 leads, 0 support in the sales process, and 0 ownership over accounts. You compete with 10 other channels for the same sales (10 is exaggerated but still) Work life balance and pressure are bad. Most sales orgs separate functions like sdr, account manager, account executive, customer success, etc. nope here you do it all and no mercy on quota in q4

B2B sales jobs are not for the faint of heart at AT&T.  Expect to work a minimum 50+ hours per week.  Remember-there is no such thing as a "customer service" department for AT&T Business customers.  The "sales" team IS the customer service.  If a customer calls in for a billing question or anything else the default response is to "call your sales rep".  That being said if you hustle you get well rounded quickly and if you take the time to learn systems/processes at the company you are well regarded and generally "protected" come surplus time.  My observance is the reps who "punch" the clock 9-5 get caught up in the annual surplus.  Generally, sales management up the chain works as hard as you do so if they are putting in the work and they see you are not (evenings, weekends) etc. they won't keep you.

CSE is a great role to learn to be an Account Executive and develop Account Strategy, especially if you’re on the younger side.

Rule of thumb - those closest to the customer (CSE) are almost always the safest during layoff season. Overlay and support roles are always cut first.
