Base salary is low because of the high turnover. But what they don’t tell you is that the turnover is high not because the job sucks, but mostly because you get super high offers from other sales jobs that double your earnings just because you worked at ADP (known for the amazing sales training). I’ve only been here a couple weeks but I already see why people love it here! If you build your referrals from CPAs and banks and clients, you will do amazingly here. The top 10 reps at my office are doing $500k+ per year, but their bases are probably <$80k without bonuses, commission, or equity. And those guys are hardly sales people — 94% of their business is from referrals. They just process sales orders and sign their John Hancock! Most of them work from home too even though this is an outside sales role where you have a territory when you start. Plus, the better you are, the higher the commission % per deal (it’s complex). My VP put it this way, “ADP is really good at paying their top reps really well, and really good at paying their low performing reps just the base.”
