Are certain AEs at Salesforce still only slinging Slack? With all the Salesforce re-org over the last year - seems Slack would be the easiest (of Tableau, Mulesoft, etcs ) to just fold into the core of Salesforce reps?

Slack is a standalone product but it’s more complicated than that because you have to work closely with the Core AE to get exec access. The old Slack is gone. It’s now just another product that’s been gutted like Tableau. Outstanding product but Slack as a company is gone.

Yes we are, but we are not selling anything. It's very hard and everyone is leaving the shim. Do not join the company now as there is no money to be made , whatever the vertical. I'm talking about enterprise sales. but in EMEA it's terrible for both Enterprise AND MM

Slack has dedicated reps because the value narrative is actually quite nuanced, Salesforce reps think it’s just a chat tool so they’re not equipped to sell Slack. That said, selling Slack is brutal these days, Microsoft has successfully commoditized the market and beats on price/bundling.

There are Geo's that have already modified the org structure for selling Slack to where the people who were Slack AEs and managed the business relationship + opportunity mgmt, etc are being shifted to be 'overlay' sales focused on Slack.  As a Slack AE pre-Salesforce acquisition, my sense is that's how it will eventually be for all and likely some more headcount reduction.  We don't need as many people if the ratio of rep <> # of accounts increases and don't need as many mgmt layers, etc.  We will see :)

Yes, there are still "Slack only" AE's that are separate from the Core SFDC Account Director/primes (Tableau, Mulesoft, Service Cloud, etc).
