Decisions that affect quota attainment are made on a whim or are based on bad data; territory changes every 6 months and leadership continues to hire more sales people without an increase in TAM. Product market fit is great, but leads aren't distributed evenly and territories are made up of mostly bad data, making them seem bigger than they really are. It's possible to hit quota with a lucky inbound deal, but it's impossible to do it on your outbound book of business alone, so you're really not in control of your own success.

Great company to work for, but our segment was promised 5 inbound leads per day. We would be lucky to get one every two weeks. BoBs were promised to be a certain size, but it turned out that only a small portion of these accounts could be worked. Great people, great team, great product; tough to earn a good living at Shopify.
