How many people get promoted out of the SDR department a year into an AE closing role, not an upsell role?

A year? I don't think that has happened at all in 2021. I remember it happened 2 or 3 times in 2020, but that was because they were all in the SDR role for 2 to 3 years already. Going into upsell isn't bad, since the OTE is around $120k, but just going into our upsell team would be impressive considering how many SDR's you're competing against. Gotta be at least 50 by now.

Never does anyone these days go straight to new business from SDR.

If you are top 5%, you can go PAM or SDM then AE, but even that is rare

Likelihood of getting out of SDR role here with the terrible % to quota for SDRs, is unlikely at best.

The way promotion works is that you go from SDR to Pro Account Manager, which is an upselling role. From there, you can get into an AE role. The XDR department is huge.. the odds of you getting promoted in under 2 years are nonexistent. You'll probably wait almost 3 years before you get a promotion.

After you become a Pro Account Manager, it's probably at least another year and a half / two years before you become an AE.

Better off somewhere else if you wanna get promoted.

Looking around the company and talking to AE's, Management ETC, it would probably take somewhere around 3-4 years and I quote "if you are lucky".
