How challenging is the transition from SDR to AE at Salesforce, and what opportunities for growth can sales professionals expect?

You'll have to go from SDR -> BDR before becoming an AE so you should expect at least 2 years (if you're performing well) before you'll be eligible for an AE role. From there, it's changing a lot, but Salesforce provides a lot of resources and well-thought strategy to help you find success. Most AEs that come from the SDR role at Salesforce see success quicker than those coming in externally.

I would expect a MINIMUM of 2 years to get promoted to AE from SDR. Both sales dev roles, SDR & BDR are both a constant grind. Maintaining promotion eligibility is fragile and dependent on headcount / competition in your hub. Ive seen many BDRs I work with leave, and not a single one promote to AE.

Transition can be somewhat challenging. You’ll know how to use Salesforce better than any external hire, which is important. Where you might struggle is running deal cycles. I’d shadow every call if you can as a BDR, especially discos. You’ll be an SMB AE for 2 years before promo

SDR>BDR>AE it takes on average 18-24 months as long as your hitting 90-110%+ of your attainment. Once your there you'll be eligible for the interview process in SMB.
