Currently interviewing for both a SB & GRB AE role, coming from the Enterprise SLED space at another Fortune 15. What's the OTE difference for the roles? Thinking the SB role would be a significant pay cut...

no nessasarily.   They are good about raising quota in higher segments.  You can end up having a higher OTE and making less money.  Its the wall st special.

Manager matters for sure and the pay depends on location. I personally think the pay sucks at both levels.

Hi. I was in both SMB and GRB roles. I also have a deep understanding of Enterprise roles as a friend is working there, and I was close to starting in an Enterprise role in Madrid.

SMB may be more profitable than Enterprise and GRB. There are many accounts, more inbound leads, and a short deal cycle. GRB or bigger segments may have much lower earning potential. Strategic accounts. Many times you bet your entire year on 1 strategic deal. If you lose it, your year is gone.

If helps, I made 200k-250k 2 years in a row as an SMB AE, while only 150k as a GRB. Enterprise is different: you may make 1M compensation if you close 4-6M deal, but then you may expend 3 years earning only fix salary. In enterprise the fix salary is between 80k-100k.

SMB is highly dependant on the territory: a strong territory is magical, while a low territory may be a nightmare as the cadence of the forecast in SMB is quite high. They are pushing you to close every week, at least in my org.

Anyway, If I were you, I would go SMB.-GRB. Is a good segment to understanding Salesforce and growing is easy in there if you make the numbers.

After you are successful in SB you would promote to GRB so would go GRB route if the promotion path is important to you.

Manager will be very important so ask to talk to who you would be working under more than the 1 30 min interview you get in the process.
