How good is the variable comp plan, is it capped?

Commissions are not capped. Variable comp plan may vary depending on level of sales role, but my experience is 50/50 base to variable. Accelerators kick in at 100% of quota.

No cap on commissions. Target is 50/50 between base and variable. Top 10% are making considerably more than target. Total comp is below average for Raleigh.

The comp is uncapped.  The comp plan structure varies widely based on vertical, sales role (SB, SMB, MM, etc) and new business vs. account management.  Overall compensation is low for this area.

Every year the structure of the variable comp plan changes significantly.  Unlike previous years, in 2021, kickers don't start until you reach 100% of your quota.  If you reach 140% of your quota, the commission payout percentages decrease.

Comp is uncapped but now commission % goes down when you "sold too much" - which is a shame. The comp. plans were at one time one of the best things about Relias - this is not the case anymore

Base comp is low, however, the top performers at Relias will make more than they arguably could anywhere else.  Kickers start at 50% to quota and once you are over annual the kickers VERY aggressive.
