Inbound lead flow scores on here are pretty awful.  Is it tough at Paylocity right now going up against the new wave of more modern providers? Would you view someone like a Gusto as a primary competitor or is it more the ADPs of the world?

I've been here for 8+ yrs and have never come across Gusto one time. ADP/Paycom/UKG are the main competitors.  Lead gen is awful for 2 reasons. 1) There are far too may reps working at this company, so the leads a spread very thin. 2) Our marketing is awful.

Paylocity's tech is pretty much the best in this space. However, finding opportunities is very challenging as you are mostly doing cold calls when you start. Booking meetings is really tough but once you get into an evaluation, you usually are the #1 or #2 choice. My main competitors are Paycom, Paycor, ADP, and UKG.

It is a very crowded and competitive market. However, Paylocity is truly the best option, so we win more than we lose overall.

You really do have to depend on yourself for lead gen (brokers/partners, telemarketing, etc), but I usually get about 25% of my revenue each year from inbound and appointments set for me.

I’ve never worked for an HCM company that provides regular leads that you can depend on. If you want to work in this space, you need to hunt your own food, or teach brokers, financial advisors, and CPAs to sell for you.

Paylocity is the new wave of modern providers. Having been here 4 years now, I can honestly say I have never gone head to head against Gusto. Most competitive deals we are in we are up against UKG, Paycor, or Paycom. In competitive situations, we typically win the business or finish runner-up.

Gusto caters to the SMB market and slowly moving up. Not a competitor. Paylocity. competes more with ADP, Paycom, Paycor, UKG, Ceridian… There are different channels in which leads are generated. Telemarketing, brokers, networking groups and associations, BDR team…
