What's the current outlook on a new SDR at least hitting OTE ? Is it common to hit OTE 1st year SDR?

SDRs that work the Inbound or Emerging markets have a HUGE advantage compared to those working upmarket (Mid-Market or Enterprise). Those in upmarket work 10x harder and receive half the OTE. Emerging BDRs also regularly pipe fake meetings towards their OTE (makes it hard to compete for promotions)

In previous years, it was much easier to hit quotas thus get full OTE. Even still, less than 50% of BDRs were hitting quota.

Given current landscape and recent changes, there are entire teams hitting below 50% to quota, meaning well below 75% OTE. Some teams are now fully self-sourced meaning they don't support a particular AE and some teams that support AEs. BDRs supporting AEs with a GOOD pairing may have an easier time hitting quota if AEs are willing to feed them/work well with them. Those relationships can be very important but as mentioned, they have become more strict on ROE and acceptance of meetings overall.

There is no distinction between those teams other than slight quota adjustments in respect to the different structures and verticals you support. Quotas are not adjusted in respect to territory, so you will be compared in attainment to BDRs who may have more profitable and higher converting territories. I historically have hit well above 120% quota in previous quarters but recent trends have put me below 80% attainment.

AMO BDRs are having an easier time hitting quota compared to direct BDRs in recent trends. Regardless, most are not hitting 100% quota.

Less than 50% of BDRs hit quota or full OTE. You have to absolutely grind and be laser focused.l, might hit it one quarter and then not the next too.  Getting assigned to a good AE or one that had been a BDR is clutch so they’ll give you some help but they’ve been cracking down on that.

Not likely. Just do your best and learn as much as you can. Keep on eye on other SDR/BDR jobs at other places as well

I was a bdr for netsuite in 2021. I was hanging around the top 30% of around 150 or so bdrs and was at roughly 70% of my quota. Made around 62k for the year. Great people, learn a lot, great to have on resume. Really hard to hit quota. I got promoted to AE with those numbers.
