Question

I know Oracle has a huge sales org and many products / verticals  - but from the outside it seems NetSuite is where the highest likelihood of IC success is - any truth to that or should I look more broadly at all the roles across Oracle?

Depends if you are looking for an AE or AM role. However, they completed a round of layoffs recently. IMO, these layoffs were due to staffing up and attempting to move more accounts up stream and out of the SMB team which is housed overseas. Issue is, these accounts are stagnant and not growing. Because of this, there are a lot of unsuccessful reps which were not in a position to succeed. And, a large number of them have now been let go. Proceed with utmost caution when considering a role with NetSuite as this is an interesting time for this business. They are yet to realize that they can do more with less, that the quiet accounts aren't changing and thus can be folded into a territory as opposed to making new unsuccessful territories.

The difference is 'linearity', the deals are larger at Oracle so there are fewer to close and get paid on, and conversely, the SMB and Mid Market is much larger than the Enterprise and while the deals are smaller at NetSuite there ae more of them to be had so law of averages should have you doing more deals in more months/quarters.  It's a matter of your preference and where your skills would best be applied.

Oracle and NetSuite have had a history of being very different cultures. Historically, Oracle has been described as more of a dog-eat-dog culture with a more corporate feel. NetSuite was the smaller "startup" that has since been acquired. From NS experience, you can feel some of the big Oracle culture started to permeate its way down, but NS still retains a lot of its own identity.

Other poster is also correct. NS plays more in the SMB space, so more deals that go quicker (but don't fool yourself - many still take 6+ months) while Oracle is bigger, corporate deals.
