Question

How is Netsuite integrated into Oracle post acquisition?  I have a preconceived notion of Oracle, but is Netsuite run separately?

Agree with post on Jan '23.  Oracle is slowly absorbing NetSuite into the culture.  Since it is part of public company, more pressure than ever to hit exponential growth targets.  Also, they have very little faith in the BDR (business develop reps) so all cold calling/prospecting is on the account executives.

NetSuite in many ways is ran separate, we’re the only global business unit to ever exist if I recall correctly. Sure, we follow Oracles policies now being a subsidiary and at the top of the chain is Safra, but almost all of the pre-acquisition leadership is entirely the same. I was there pre-acquisition for several months and now still here post-aquisition and I feel minimally affected outside of some policy change.

Oracle has a reputation in the market and a culture that has an affect on the culture of NetSuite. While Oracle has wanted NetSuite to run independently policies and preferences have started to be implemented. Previous partners such as Adaptive Insights were kicked out in favor of Oracle's preferred FP&A tool to give one example. The other is Oracle's reputation for hiring reps right out of college as BDRs, promoting them to AEs, and less than 50% of the AEs hitting their quarterly target numbers - which wasn't a culture present when NetSuite was its own company

It’s run pretty different. I have had numerous teammates come over oracle and talk about how much better Netsuite is. With that said they do take in a lot of BDRs straight of college. Awesome way to get into sales, the ones moved up who aren’t sure if sales is for them don’t put in the work therefore don’t see the results. If you do your job, and put in the work, the culture here is awesome. If you aren’t performing and aren’t willing to take coaching, then you wouldn’t last long. But that’s with any sales org. Coming from a prior job that micromanaged everything and listened to calls, Netsuite is a breath of fresh air.

NetSuite still operates independently as a separate global business unit or subsidiary. The biggest change from the acquisition was NetSuite got the financial backing from Oracle, allowing them to dump money into R&D & growth.

NetSuite is slowly being absorbed more so into Oracle - there's no more @netsuite emails, everyone is all @oracle now,  and policies and practices are also becoming much much more Oracle-esque. I heard that NetSuite was great for employees back in the day, but now it's essentially just a part of a big corporation cutting costs wherever they can.
