HackerRank struggles with being firmly in the "nice to have" category of software spending for customers. When times are tough the tool is often first on the chopping block as it requires the company to be hiring to see real value.

HackerRank has a great product and amazing technology. However, leadership changes the sales strategy every quarter which has lead to an unstable environment.
